PU -2 optical intercom is intended for organizing the duplex link between operators along one optical fiber.
Optical intercom is irreplaceable with the building, the installation, the testing and the operation [VOLS], when operators are located at significant distances based on each other and must operationally and continuously exchange information during the work.
Optical intercom is delivered before the complete set of two blocks.
It enters into delivery set PU -2:
- two intercoms with two sets;
- two storage batteries;
- two leather cases for carrying-over and storing the intercom.

Use before the intercom PU -2 of the technology of surface installation makes for the sake of its compact, lung, economical and reliable.
The presence of the one-mode semiconductor laser sources of optical radiation and highly sensitive receivers made it possible to bring the dynamic range of intercom to 50 dB, so that the distance of connection against the wavelength 1550 nm reaches 200 km.
