Optical locator- reflectometer [VL]-5 is intended for attenuation measuring before the optical fibers and their connections, the length of optical fiber and distance to any section of it.
Field of application: building, installation, operation and repair work on [VOLS]. Instrument can work both before the field and laboratory conditions.
Before the regime of locator the instrument automatically determines distance to the heterogeneities or damages of optical cable, measures the losses and the reflection coefficient before these heterogeneities.

The results of measurements are mapped into symbolic view of the built-in graphic display, and the obtained reflectogram automatically remain before the energy-independent memory of instrument and can be considered subsequently in Personal Computer before the size Of bellcore.
 Before the regime of locator the operator can correct the values of the refractive index of the core of optical fiber, and also change the form of the information, mapped onto display.
Under control Personal Computer the instrument fulfills the functions of reflectometer. Software makes it possible to obtain beyond the screen Personal Computer the complete reflectogram of the measured line and to determine all necessary characteristics [VOLS].
Instrument [VL]-5 ensures:
- the rapid and precise analysis of the parameters of heterogeneities before the line;
- the self-alignment of the parameters of the measurement for achievement of maximum accuracy;
- the possibility of the successive indication of all heterogeneities before the line in accordance with the established threshold values;
- storage of the results of measurements (128 reflectogram);
